Bissmillah, Al-Hamdulillah wa sallallahu ala Rasuillah,
Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: "Al-^aynu Haq" which is talking about the evil eye, and that it is true, and could happen from anyone to anyone excluding Prophets. That means evil eye does not occur from Prophets may Allah's peace and blessings be upon.
Evil eye occurs from people that do not like the goodness to others. They would envy you, or have enmity towards you, and so, if they look at a property you have, or at you, and say: Your eyes are nice, or you have a huge house, or so, with enmity in their heart, the evil eye could occur and harm you.
To protect yourself, you must say: Masha'llah or Bissmillahi ma sha'llah when you say about something that is attractive or interested you. Or if others did that, request from them to say: Bissmillahi ma sha'llah, Bissmillahi Alayk. And that will block the evil eye from happening by the will of Allah ta^ala.
Also, one must always make taweez, which is reciting from al-Qur'an, such as the 3 Mu^awizt, Surat As-samad, Surat Al-Ikhlas, Surat An-Nass. Also, ayatul-Kursiyy is a great weapon against evilness and against Jin. Recite them when you wake up and when you go to sleep. These were all from the doings of Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.
