for f?tra, half a sa of wheat or wheat flour is given.or one sa of barley or dates or raisins is given.in Hanafi madhab,at a times when wheat, barley and flour are abundant it is better to give their equialents in gold and silver.in Hanfi madhab Sa is the volume of a container with the capacity of one thousand and forty dirhams of millets or lentils.one Sa is four muds, that is four menns.mud and menn are equal and are two r?tls.one r?tl is a hundred and thirty dirham-i sheri or 92 misqal, one sa is 728 misqals,or (1040) dirhams, that is 3500 gr. of lentils.since barley is lihter than wheat and wheat is lighter than lentil,a container that is filled with one thousand and forty grams of barley is larger than one sa.but it will be precautious to call it one sa ,it will be precautious to give 364 misqals ,or five hundred and twenty dirhams ,which is 1750 grams,of wheat instead of half sa.thus a little more will have been given.for ,half a sa of wheat is lighter than 364 misqals,or five hundred and twenty dirhams.experimente d by a using a balance and cylindrical glass measuring jug,and found out that a hundred grams of lentils is a hundred and twenty cubic centimetres.accordi ngly, one sa is equal to four litres plus one-fifth litre(4,2 litres)
in the madahib of Shafii,Maliki and Hanbali,to give f?tra is fard for a person who has a days's food and of whether wheat or barley it is always necessary to give one sa.in Shafii madhab one sa is one-third of a menn less than three menns.one menn is two r?tl-? Iraqi.then one sa is six hundred and ninetyfour dirhams which is written in Anwar.in the other words it is 1680 grams.for the Shafii madhab a dirham is 2.42 grams, one mud is two-third of a menn.then one sa is four muds.in Shafii it is not permissible to give gold or silver equialent of wheat or barley.it is written in Shemseddin Remli's fatwa that it is permissible to follow Hanafi and give the wheat's equialent in silver instead of the wheat itself.
