Here is a whole thread showing proof on how the voice of a woman is not part of her awrah, as some ignorant people insist, in order to suppress women:

Know that the active judgement on the issue of the FEMALE VOIVCE passed by the four mathaheb (schools of thought) is that the female voice is not a 3awra: meaning it is not a sin for the female voice to be heard. How can it be judged as a 3awra when if the opposite has already been confirmed by the hadith that prophet Muhammad allowed one of the females of his time to chant in praise of bride at her wedding ceremony.

Al-Bukhariy related in his sa7i7 from Hisham bin 3irwa, from his father, from 3a2isha (may Allah be pleased with her) that she (3a2isha) chanted for a bride on her marriage to a man from the ansar, (the companions of madina). On this occasion the prophet asked 3a2isha: ya 3a2isha maa kaana ma3akum lahwun? Fi2innal-ansaar yu3jubohom al-lahu.
Meaning: Aisha!! Did you take with you the ‘lahu (the allowable instruments) to use?? The ansaar like the allowable instruments.

Also in the narration of At-tabaraniy, through a route to 3aisha who said, the prophet said: “hal ba3athtum ma3aha jaariyah tadrib biddof wa tughaniy?”  Meaning: Did you send with her a female to beat the drums and chant to her?”
3aisha asked the prophet what the chanter should say? The prophet said a poem to be chanted:
attaynaakom attaynaakom      fa7ayyouna nu7ayyeekom
falawlath-thahab al-2a7mar maa 7allat biwaadeekom
walawla-al-7inttatus-sammra2u    maa saminat 3athaareekom

Al-Bukhariy related from 3a2isha (may Allah be pleased with her) that she was at home once, and she had with her 2 females who were chanting. Their chants were pretty loud that the person in the other room could hear. The Prophet (May peace be upon him) came to the house. He went and layed down on the couch facing the other side, so he won't be looking at them. He didn't not ask 3a2isha (may Allah be pleased with her) to stop them from chanting!!! He did not say it is a 3awra or anything.

Abou bakr, came later on, and asked 3a2isha to stop them, but the Prophet, may Peace be upon him, told him that it's ok.

We all know that the Prophets do not ignore it, they say it's wrong. If the voice of the women is 3awra, the Prophet Muhamad (May peace be upon him) would've asked the females to stop chanting.

I like my prospective wife to be able to sing ...

Especially during karaoke session at our home. Of course-lah, she can only sing for me only. She also can sing lullabies to our future kids.

All sorts of songs, even heavy metal rock are not a problem. Of course, seeing your wife strutting in front of you imitating Kid Rock is something to shudder about. A rocker chick ... man ....
