Dear sister YasminReading the great Koran is a blessing no doubt....... but of course the true blessing would be in reading the text that was revealed to the great prophet Mouhammad.... that is the arabic one. Now no doubt reading a good translation of the meanings of the koran is a good thing too. But where can one find a real good translation today?I have seen translation (ja auf Deutsch auch) which should be qualified as HORRIBLE ..... The translation I saw and found here is very often a ridiculous translation based on the today-known meaning of words........ not on their true arabic meaning in the literature.
 :'(....its bad when i dont know the translation right then you cant really get amazed by the fact that it is original....if i can read it in original, i would have a better closer connection towards it....is ther any way we can help ourselves??? :'(
To recite the qur'aan we should learn how to read and pronounce the Arabic text correctly. This is rewardable even if you don't know the meaning. As for seeking the meanings of the text, we should consult the authentic and reliable, scholars of ahlus-sunnah. Not every one of us qualified to intepret the qur'aan. An aayah must be understood in a meaning that is compatible with the rest of the qur'aan and sunnah, that's why we need to consult scholars and teachers who have learned of the correct meanings. :-)
