Assalamu Alaaykum
Did anyone  hear the stroy about Djad ibn Qays .
When the Prophet Isa was advising his companions to believe the prophet  Ahmad  ( Muhammad Sollolohu alayhi wa sallam ) and  to follow him , there was  a muslim djin who was listening to the advise .The story relates that during  the time of our prophet this djin  came to  Yemeni  people and requested them  when they  go  to Kaba and to the spring " Zam zam "  to convey to our prophet Muhammad Sollolohu alayhi wa sallam that they believe him  as advised by Prophet Isa. Yemeni  people  were listening to djin but they could not see the djin . Djad ibn Qays was among those people. Djad ibn Qays came to Makka and asked for our Prophet sollolohu alayhi wa sallam and became a muslim.

I heard that story. I think they were schizophrenic or something. If a person thinks they hear a ghost or a spirit talking the best thing is to go to accident and emergency, get it checked out. It's unislamic to base your actions on what a spirit/genie (!!) tells you to do.

I'm sorry but how could that story be true? You shouldn't just believe something because you were told it even if you think the person is reliable. You can tell from the story itself that nobody should take notice of it. It says that people were listening to "Jinn". That means they were hearing voices coming from a source they couldn't see. Those voices therefore could have been ANYTHING, including the result of a schizophrenic imagination as somebody else suggested.

If today somebody came to us and claimed they were hearing voices, every normal one of us would suspect that the person had probably gone insane

That's very wrong, i don't agree. WHo should we believe if we become to doudt the reliable persons?

That's very wrong also. I know lots of peole who have heard, seen and talked to the " jinn". Some are relatives of mine. They were not insane. Having this encounter doesn't necessitate an absence of mind.

Looks like we're going to have to agree to disagree on that. Not least because it's clinically incorrect. Hearing voices for which there is no tangible source and claiming to communicate with them is in every way a hallmark of schizophrenia and at least temporary insanity.

And even if it isn't, necessarily, as you suggest, then that still leaves questions. Namely, was it a genuine encounter OR was it simply the result of something going wrong in the mind? And since there is no way of determining one way or the other, any account of such communications is in every way unreliable. Every normal human being can at any time be subject to temporary insanity. Some people are extremely predisposed to such things. In 95% of such cases, nevertheless, I'd guarantee that the person was not normal, and you could find things evidently wrong with them upon a fair investigation/examination.

Wa ^alayaka Assalam,
Bro Akbar, what u wrote is completely right.

May Allaah reward u for this information. In this story it proofs that prophet ^Issa have told his disciple about prophet mu7ammad and that he knew about him. In the Quraan it is mentioned about what prophet ^Issa told his disciple about prophet Mu7ammad, salla allaah ^alayh wassalam, in soura Al-saf ( ????) aya 6.

from the story: It has been told that prophet ^Issa said to his disciple: << There will come after me a prophet called Ahmad, believe in him and follow him if he shows up. ( i.e. if he is at ur time) >>

It isn't really "proof" as such, in the sense of external proof. The story was related by Muslims...by our own. There's no way of proving for sure that it happened. For something to be serious "proof", it has to be absolutely certain and undeniable. Otherwise, it would simply be conjecture.

@Ghani. Your Comment is out of place. All Muslims beleive that what they are on is the right path. So You can't call our proofs "conjecture", something based on guess. Our releigion is the only relegion that is approvable by the sound mind.

If you mean that other people don't beleive in Quraan it's something we know.
But you sound skeptical yourself. and the story you said is narrated by us is simply another proof in what is very obvious to us all as Muslims. And if you are skeptical of the narration itself, We know, you stated in another place that you beleive that 3 of the Sahabah went on the right path and the other 100000 or so were astry (there are proof in the Quraan this is not true). So we don't need to hear that.

Really I'm only questioning what should count as external evidence. I don't think a narration by our own people can work as other than internal evidence.
