tattoo??
« on: Wednesday 07 September 2005, 23:24 »
one bro asked me why tattoo is haram? i tried explaining but not educated in this enuf to really tell him. will anyone of u be able to help me out kindly?

his question was why is tattoo haram? and if its abt 'destroying' or 'hurting' a creation by Allah then why are women allowed to have piercings. doesnt that 'destroy' or 'hurt' their body too in one form or another? and also, it is said that anything of woman a man cannot immitate, and of man a woman cant. so his question is, how it is 'ok' for women to have it, and man cant (ex. piercing ears etc). wht determines that its a "woman" thing.

basically this bro wants to get tattoo n he doesnt seem to hav found any explanations that he can relate to and understand why he shouldnt get it done. He's not clear about the msg in the Qur'an/hadith abt this....

n this kinda made me wonder too.

plz help me out so i can pass on the stuff to him as well as i said i'll try my best to clarify frm any resource i can find. jazakh Allah.

Praise and thanks are due to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds.  We ask Allah to raise the rank of our Master Muhammad, the last prophet and messenger, his Al, Companions and followers, and to protect his nation from whatever he feared for it.

Q: Why the tattoo is haram.

A: The tattoo, it is to prick the skin with a needle then to spread above some indigo or what is equivalent so that this sting becomes blue and it is forbidden [prohibited] according to the hadith appearing in both sahih:

(( ???? ????? ???? ????????? ????????????? ))

What means: "The Messenger of Allah Sallallahu ^alayhi wa sallam cursed the one who tattoos and the one who is tattooed".

Tattoo is irrelevant to piercing womens' ears. Women are not men so does men are not women. There is some rule only apply to women. Allah created men and women with different body part where as women is beautiful to man. This is their quality and women give birth but not men. I think that's enough to answer your question. I don't have to go in deep beacuse the Sahih hadith it is a biggest proof.

May Allah guide us to the truth make us knowledgable in here so we can save our family and our friend. Amin

I wished it was only the ears they were piercing. They're piercing everything. And not only women, men too. Piercing business is a boom. Isn't it repugnant?

It is true men and women are doing it but I haven't see a muslim woman or man doing not in my area. Unfortunate, it is cost a lot money and I seen only some retard people who do it.

thnx jazakh Allah "me_against_wahhabis" fo the hadith n explanation.

thing is.. that explanation is good enuf to help someone understand who already gets the idea jus wants somethin to reassure them.

but fo someone whos not so "in touch w/ islam" but tryin to understand it, there has to be some greater explanation where the bro can actualy set his foot down n know it deep down.

yes ur rite, woman n man has been created differently n i can see piercing is not relevant to tatoo, that explanation u gave i can pass it down to him. but i still need a bit deep thing abt tattoo n why not permissable. coz thas wat he needed to know why, he already knows it says "its not permissable" but he wants to know the reason behind it.

the bro knows this already..thus a question ..why??

My Dear Sister

If someone doesn't trust the hadith and the proof of it being haram then there is no why for that. Because if one is arrogant s/he will never come to conclusion. When a Messenger of Allah Sallallahu ^alayhi wa sallam said it is haram then it is haram there is no objection. If you talk to a person and he asked why then you give him the proof what Prophet sallallahu ^alayhi wa sallam said after he doesn't believe on it then you don't need to argu with him to believe it. You have done great job giving him the proof but it is up to him to take so, be easy on yourself my sister.

May be someone will help you to understand why is haram. I don't really go beyond what is the proof I give to you My Prophet's saying is my proof.

if it is only a sticker that you put on your skin and can remove it any time, then it is not haram, as long as what is in the drawing is OK:...........
