Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds, Who does not resemble the creation. To Him belong the endowments and the befitting perfections and commendations. I ask Allah to raise the rank of Prophet Mu
h ammad , sallallahu ^alayhi wa sallam.
Surat al ^Imran, aya 7 means : Allah is the One Who has sent down to the Prophet the Book that contains muhkamat ayat, which are the foundation of the Book, and other ayat which are mutashabihat.
So , know firmly , that the Qur'an contains two types of ayat.
Muhkamat ayat: The are the ayat that have only one meaning according to the rules of the Arabic knowledge or else the meaning of the ayas is clearly known. Examples of this of ayat are the saying of Allah : in Surat ash Shura aya 11 means [There is nothing like Him] and His saying, ta^ala: "Layssa kamithlihi shay2". and His saying ta^ala " wa lam yakun lahu kufu2an a7ad"
This is an aya mu7kama. It means that islamically wise and language wise it can only have one meaning: Allah does not resemble any of his creations.
Now! what's an aya
mutashabiha??? Those are ayat that can have many meanings. HOWEVER, if meanings are assigned to them, this must be done in a manner that complies with the language AND the religion, and does not contradict the ayat that are mu7kamat.
REMEMBER! surely the ayat of the Qur'an do not contradict one another. So what do we do? in this case there are two methodologies that I will explain tomorrow
