« on: Wednesday 01 December 2004, 06:23 »
:salam:  Brothers and Sisters of Islam,

A question, why are we not allowed to own a dog as a pet. I do know if we do do the Melek's will not enter our homes but what is written about this and where?

Assalam

There is a wisdom from not keeping a dog in our house ! or a mental evidence to demonstrate that we are not allowed to keep a dog in our house , which is : First , we have been told that if we have touched the dog we have to wash our hands in the sand 7 times, We all knows that right ?? ok ....here you go , the experts in Russia after the experiments said that the saliva or the sputum of the dog Contains a lot of microbes ! they had tried to kill these microbes by many methods ! like boiling this liquide at 100 degree or freezing it under 0 degree ! but none of these methodes have worked ! like the meat of the pig , finaly ! they took this saliva and wash it with the sands as we have been told 7 times not one time ! and it worked ! the microbes gone away after washing it 7 times ! and we all know clearly that in the era of the prophet Mohamad 3aliehi salat wa salam and after, there was no experts ! no microscopes ! and nothing you can say! despite that they told us to wash our hands in the sands 7 times ! .....so is that enough ???
by the way these microbes do harm a lot ! so imagine that these microbes are existed on your hands now or your mouth ! cuz sometimes people kiss the mouth of the dog !! yukkkkk !
anyway ...Baraka'allahu fikum
salam ! :)

brother it's 7 times one of them is with sand the others with water. Also the person washes the spot to remove the filth itself (3ain alnajassah) no matter how many times he washes it until the 3ayn itself is removed (the physical filth) it is counted as one and then he counts the other new washings.

FOund this online pasted below. these twpworms live mostly in dogs and pigs. When they get into the human body they either feed from muscle tissues or from BRAIN cells. scary isn't it? THey had a medical show called "House" on Fox newtworks some while back showing a woman who almost died becasue of eating pig meat that had tapeworm in it.

"Parasitic Worms

Dog Tapeworm

Tapeworms (cestodes), are common parasites of the small intestine of dogs and cats; they are flat and can measure from a few millimetres (Echinococcus) up to 2.5 metres (Taenia hydatigena) in length. They attach to the gut’s wall of the dog and live of the gut’s content, which is absorbed, through their integument (“skin”).

How Tapeworms are Transmitted
Adult tapeworms live in the intestine of dogs and produce eggs, which are shed in the environment through the dog’s faeces. These eggs contain a first stage larva and, when eaten by an intermediate host, for example a small mammal such as a mouse for Taenia and Echinococcus multilocularis, a ruminant for Echinococcus granulosus and Taenia or an arthropod (flea or lice) for Dipylidium caninum, the development proceeds up to the formation of the second larval stage. These larvae are infective for the dog and, when this ingests the intermediate host or its tissues, they attach to the wall of the intestine and become adults within a few weeks.

Disease
Adult tapeworms are aesthetically unpleasant but cause little harm in dogs, although severe infections may cause intestinal damage due to the physical presence of the worms."

they forgot to mention they do harm humans severely...

Also please note that the scholars agreed that if a dry body touch another dry body that doesn't transmit najas filth. They agrred that a dry body touching a wet body this will transmit filth if one of these bodies is najis filthy. THe hairs of the dog are filthy but if they are totally dry as in no particles get transmitted then simply touching the dry area would not transmit the filth to your hand.
