Salaam all :)

I was once told that it is disliked or even sinful for Muslim women to wear henna (as a body art decoration form) as this is what the non-Muslims would do (mainly hindus).  However, some people have also said it is permissable so I'm confused (as usual).  So my question is: does anyone know whether it is haraam or halaal for a Muslim lady to decorate her hands, etc with a henna design?

 Jazak'Allaah kayran :)

I am sorry I have not answered your question earlier seekingtranquility.

The answer to your question is that this issue is not by the unanimous agreement of the scholars of islam.

some women in some muslims countries do have the habit of painting their hands with henna.

But Ladyrain answered - not from her opinion.
Her answer also agrees with what I've learnt.

Bro where did you hear that?
I have never heard it is not permissable and i have never heard anyone being told it is not permissable. Your hands are not part of your ^awrah so why would you not be able to show them to a non-mahram?
