Need help finding a passage..
« on: Friday 07 March 2008, 10:55 »
Hello, This is my first post here and I hope someone can help me. I will try to make this as short as possible.

I resently met a man that claims he is Musslim but after talking to him I became very confused. I am new to Islam and have only read about half of the quran so far. I was interested in talking to him because where I live there are no Islamic centers or Islamic people.

During our conversations he started talking about Allah/ God (pbuh) as a human. Not just giving Allah (pbuh) human characteristics; he says he is a living breathing person. He claims that his religion uses the same quran I have.
Later in the talks we've had he told me that his version of Islam was the true version called the "Nation of Islam".

I'm not going to ridicule or slam his beliefs but I would like to show him the truth.

Now for my question:
So far I have got him to concede, that if I can find it written in the quran that Allah (pbuh) is not human/ person, he will believe it. I have been looking through the quran but haven't found a passage that explicitly states " Allah (pbuh) is not human" or " Allah (pbuh) is a spirit being" or the likes.

Can someone please list where in the quran I may find these?

Thanks for you help

I want to thank you for your reply. Since I am very new to Islam and the Quran I'm not too sure I should even be trying to talk to him about it. He starts the conversations trying to get me to believe his way. I had left all beliefs behind years ago because I couldn't believe in christianity but as I aged I started to think more and more about the logic of a diety. I re-read the KJV with an open mind, not cluttered by what the church says. I saw a whole different picture. I almost felt betrayed. With that; I figured if they had lied to me about the KJV and its meanings, what about the Quran? Well, you know the rest of the story because here I am.

I still don't know all the ins and outs so bear with me as I learn.   :thanks:

Don't add [pbuh] after saying Allah.

In Truth, there is no good mistranslation.

In Islam, a person is to aquire the knowlage through a sheikh or teacher. Because it is feared that if the ignorant person tried to read reference matierals like books...they will most certainly misunderstand something. you said you were new to islam, i believe the best thing for you to do is to find a teacher.

Secondly, don'tlisten to these farrakan ["nation of islam"] people..they believe Allah was born to a white woman in 1800's. Which is pretty much all that is needed to distinguish them frommuslim.

Also, yusuf...the mistranslations you psoted..they say completely diffrent things for what they call ayyat '002' All 3 have a diffrent meaning. If you want to show people these you should explaine to them which is the most correct meaning.
