Salam sis Ema.

Human nature usually like the easiest things, but the easiest wouldn't necessarily be the right ones.  To be able to stay away from that meat for two years tells me that you are really a strong woman.  Don't forget that you are rewarded for your patience.  Keep it up.  However, you do have other options.  Why don't you buy a small portion of halal meat for yourself and cook once per week the meal that you wish with halal meat.  On the other hand, if you don't really like red meat, you can get protein from other sources that a family would be eating usually not only you such as fish, white beans.  I suggest you do a research on vegetarian foods that are high in protein.  Another option is to eat halal meat from a restaurant that provides halal meat if it's available in your neighborhood.  Another option is to eat halal meat with the company of other muslim friends.  You can enjoy cooking a meal together and eating together of course if you have access to a kitchen.  In case you don't know how to cook, believe me it is so simple.  Once you try, you will get used to it, and if you need any quick recipes, I'm ready to provide you simple ones to start.

I'm sure that if you felt weak and tried to eat that meat, you won't enjoy it because you know it is not halal meat.

My advice is be strong and:  "Never disobey Allah to please anyone".

hi sis ema

nice to hear from you

Be strong sis, this life is a test for us and sometimes we really do have to be patient. Just because your family are doing wrong does not mean you have to be weak enough to follow them. Be firm and satisfied that you have obeyed the laws of Allaah and have not been trapped by temptation. Remain patient and fear Allaah and inshaa'Allaah your reward will be in the hereafter.

As sis haleema said look into vegetarian options. Many people are vegetarians in this world and live perfectly healthy lives.

Also try the things sis haleema said about cooking for yourself like 1 meal a day.

Remember this life is not easy for the believing Muslim but we struggle on. may Allaah ease things for you my dear sister. Stay in touch
 :-)

thanks for the veggie advice  :-D
thank you sis bash..it really helps me hear what you have to say.
i have always thought something bad cannot stay, because if we believe and show paience, then Allah wont leave us in the test forever. (i mean in this life)

usually i have never been in the siutations like these, and i have always remained in sitatuons that are not so serious .

Even if we are tested greatly in this life sis ema, we remain patient and do the best that we can and we pray that we get the reward in the hereafter. This life has an end so seek pleasure in the hereafter not here.

The issue of not liking Halal meat may be actually due to some shops not presenting the meat as they should (A common case in the US, don't know about Europe or Australia). I have noticed a big difference between meat shops in Lebanon for example and the ones in the US (Of course not all of them). But let me tell you how i thought of it, is it worth it for me to buy the Haram meat knowing that the difference in price i am paying is actually the weight of the "dirty" blood that was kept in the animal's meat? When the animal is slaughtered correctly the "dark" blood finds its way out of the body, hence reducing the meat weight, which makes the meat more expensive. Another reason though is that the Halal meat places usually cannot purchase huge quantities of cattle like the non halal slaughter houses do.
On another hand, not eating meat should not be a health risk issue. You can always replace it with Fish (I couldn't eat fish before i had to live in areas with no halal meat sellers around). The fava beans actually are also a good replacement for meat. I mean how can the so called vegetarians live ??
I do know that it is hard sometimes but it is worth it to keep your body clean !!!

Sis Emilee, shed your depression fast, OK do you know that being a Moslem its our belief that you get closer to Allah when you are prostrating, so here's what you do, prostrate longer and say in your heart what you wish.

You will see the change in days, and bless your heart, be steadfast and seek help from Allah.

You need not worry about your health.  Fist of all I have not eaten meet in 6 yrs, and I am fine.

Some Indians go whole life with out meet.

Finally if you deny meet for sake of ALL_H then I am sure he will no harm come to you.

I understand you problem though I am only Muslim I know around so I get a lot of trouble from others, but together we can pull threw in ALL_H's name

Hope this helps

Dan Sims idea is worth noticing and you can do one more thing, avoid deep fried stuff and like Dan says eat a lot of veggies. On the other hand refraining from meat will also help you in controlling your nafs.
