I have read there were 104 divine books that were revealed. Does anyone have a reference to this, Qur'an or hadith?{azizrasul}

Assalamo alaikum,

Where did you read this? Was it in some story book and then you are asking people to find it in Quran or hadith. Quran does not give the number of books earlier revealed nor gives the number of messengers sent. Has your research of knowing the hypothetical number of books any relation to Iman and Islam?

take it easy....

wa alaykom essalam

 :welcome:

what azizrasul said about the divine books being 104 is correct.

Assalmo Alaykum,

Thank you. I got puzzled that he was asking people to confirm or reject about the number of 104 divine books. Can I tell this information to my friends by giving them reference of very learned azizrasul and also you but if they ask me to quote some thing from Quran and Hadith, please tell me what should I say. Thank you.

 no dear. we are no references ourselves.

here you go for the scientific references.

Allah says in the Koran in sourat Al A3la 18:19

This is certainly in the earlier scriptures, the scriptures of Ibrahim and Moussa (Abraham and Moses)

Ibn Hibban narrated in his saheeh,
and ibn Mardaweih and Abd bin Houmaid and Ibn Asakir
And Souyouti in Dorr Manthou
and Qortobi in his tafseer,
All narrated from the hadith of Abi Dhar al Ghifariy that he asked the messenger of Allah : how many books has Allah revealed?
the prophet said : a hundred books and four books. Fifty to Sheeth, thirty to Anok (Idriss), Ten to Ibrahim and ten scriptures to Moussa and the Torat, The Bible, The Psaumes and the Furkan, the Koran that is.

enough ?
