Organ Donation and Dissection
« on: Saturday 17 March 2007, 20:38 »
Assalamu 3alaykum

Is organ donation (while alive or after death) permissible in Islam? Can a muslim receive an organ for transplant (from a muslim or non-muslim)?

Is it permissible to perform dissection on a dead person (for medical teaching, research, organ removal for transplant, or to establish the cause of death in criminal cases)

L.

I asked about this once. I don't remember the judgement about organ donation but I remember the part about dissection. You're not allowed to dissect a Muslim's body for medical teaching or research. Only a non-Muslims body is ok to dissect. I didn't ask about criminal cases.

Organ donation is not permissible once the Muslim is dead.
If the Muslim is alive and he wants to donate an organ then there is few conditions that has to be met for this to be lawful.

The answer seems to be unclear. Why organs cannot be donated after a person is  dead?

I wonder why many of questions, answered are not 100% clear? So the doubt remains. Is it OK to have doubts and keep living our lives with those doubts about Islam as Muslims?

Praise be to Allah and may All ah raise the rank of our dear Prophet Muhammad.

Prophet Muhammad sallallahou ^alayhi wa sal-lam said:

 << كسرُ عظم الميّت ككسره حيّا >>

Which means: << Breaking the bone of a dead person is like breaking his bone while he is still alive >>

This is the proof that it is not permissible to donate the body organs of a dead person.

In shaa Allah things are more clear for you and less confusing  :-)

I don't know what you meant when you talked about doubting, but let it be clear that anyone who doubts about the truthfullness of al Islam is not a Muslim.
And 2nd of all it is not because you do not know the wisdom behind a judgment that it means that it don't have a wisdom, we follow what the Prophet came with and what's mentionned in al Qur'an, not our opinions.

What if someone wants to donate his EYES after he is dead and gives a written permission?
Islam is forever. Don't you agree that  that is what needs to be changed,in our minds, in this modern time,of research, technology?

Still this is not permissible, the Prophet made it haram that's it.

This is not an issue about wether we have technology or not or wether it is old school or not. Islam is submission to Allah and the rules revealed to the Prophet does not change because of the mentality of people nowadays. Nowadays they make gay marriage permissible so do this means that we make it lawfull just because in this society nowadays people find it normal...off course not, and there are many examples I can give similar.

The Prophet said that what he made halal is halal and what he made haram is haram and we follow that, that's it. We don't need people nowadays who think they are deep thinkers and are looking towards te future to think they are modernist and go against what the Prophet said, this is not Islam so beware of that.

That is true that human knowledge is limited. In the long run, we see the horrible results if we change the Laws by Allah.
Just think about this. If a person is dead  and his eyes can give light to another person, won't it be nice to make another person's life comfortable?

About photographs, they say it is haram too. But in this modern world, you cannot do without it.

There is nothing to think about you are not a scholar your not qualified to give your opinion especially when there is a clear textual text that contradict what your saying.

As for photographs there is detail to this issue, this is another subject.
I repeat to you that we follow the religion wether we know the wisdom of that matter or not.

If you believe that the Prophet made this haram and this is the judgment about it in the religion and yet out of your stuborness you think it should be changed for what reason whatsoever, then this is belying the religion and thus the one who belies the religion blasphemes by that and has to re-embrace al Islam by taking the 2 testifications of faith.

And I advice you strongly to watch what come out from your tongue, don't let the devil whisper stuff to you that makes you think that your a big thinker with great new ideas or whatever is going thru your mind because that's what the shaytan do he plays with the mind of the people and try to make them non-believers.
