Due to its widespread use in Arabia, the prices for 1 kg. of ^oud in the form of oil or wood have risen as high as $10,000.

I'll just smeel it then at the shop... I'm sure the owner won't say no... You know which one I'm talking about Eve? I'm sure you know that store ;)

barak Allahu feekom dear sisters, I wanted to check the progress of this thread for a while, subhan Allah, after I came home from work I was quite tired.

Masha' Allah there is so much information that you two sisters have been kind enough to take the time to research and explain to us, May Allah Bless you and Raise your ranks. Ameen.

masha' Allah those details that you wrote about dear servant of Islam in your first post, were so lovely, I used to remember my teacher telling me that the Prophet, May Allah Raise his rank, used to smell of musk. Insha' Allah one day I would love to go to the Prophet's grave and smell the dust near his grave and to pray in Madinah and to make du'aa there and to remember our beloved Prophet, the best of all creation.

Sister EVE, the hadith that you mentioned which was reported by Imam Bukhari, I wanted to ask whether you knew which were the seven diseases that ^oud heals, insha' Allah.

The information you posted about the ways of extraction was so interesting, it makes the end result even more precious and special as there is a long process to get it from that tree.

Dear sis Servant of Islam, if you manage to go back to the shop and ask for more details, I would love it if you could tell me what the shop keeper said barak Allahu feeki. When I went into the store the shop attendant could see how much I loved ^oud as it was the first perfume I asked about and after we had tried others, he opened the bottle and he gave us a small droplet, I think it may have been worth about the price of 500g of luxury chocolate. The smell is even still on my jacket.. It is so true..the smell stays for so long

Sis Eve, it would be so good if we the Muslim Ummah could raise funds for the search of natural treatments. Al-hamdulillah we have so much information from Islam about which areas we can specialise in. So many ignorant people nowadays keep looking for a cure for ageing..they are wasting time and money. We, as Muslims could focus on research into the medicinal properties of honey and ^oud and the oil from the black seed, as well as other areas.

masha' Allah

take care,
your sis, ndya

In shaa Allah sis ndya I'll ask the shop keeper later, he's a very very kind man, I'm sure he won't mind, maybe he'll give me a droplet of ^oud too ;)

I was also very impressed with the info that sis Eve shared with us, especially that you can't have the perfume from the tee unless it was infected! Subhanallah!!

may Allah help you to go to Makka and Madina :hearts2

ameen ameen dear servant, May Allah make it easy for me to go and visit our Prophet's grave.

yes I remember the person in the shop saying you extract this perfume after the tree becomes infected, masha' Allah there are so many amazing things to see in nature, if only some people spent less time playing useless computer games and got up to look at the wonder of the world around them...

hi sumayya, yes masha' Allah it is very strong but that is another reason why people love it so much because the smell stays on the clothes and on the wearer for so long... do u own any 3oud? do you know if it is a popular gift to give at weddings?

i loooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooooooooooo ooveeeeeee  ^Oud so much!!!!!!!!!!!

it's a delicious strong smell.
masha'Allah.
but the good quality ^Oud is very very expensive, i've got a tiny little bottle of Cambodian ^Oud, and i'm addicted to it. really, once i put it on, i'm afraid people might think i'm weird because i keep sniffing that spot all the time!!!

i do like ^oud a lot, but i've also got white Musk, and that smell is very very very very very very very superdelicious, it's the best Musk i have smelled. it's such a nice fragrant smell that the one who smells it (everyone i know that have smelled it, they get hooked) keeps on smelling it over and over and they admit with a big smile that it's a very nice smell.

i have a question, does anyone of you also experience sometimes that the smell of oud (and white Musk) seems to change sometimes and then after a while it get's the same smell again??
i did notice it, but i'm not sure if it's my mood or not that causes that difference in smell sometimes. so does this sound familiar to anyone??

i found that smelling good quality perfume helps when you get depressed a lot, really it's very strange, but it feels like your hart gets lifted up again. hmmm...right.

and as a perfume-addict would close his ode to high quality perfume:
i love good perfume very much, i think it would be a very nice job to work at a perfume shop with good quality perfumes!
all day long between nice perfume....yeah!!

addicted....
