Actually sis, if i remember well, "rit" is the verb, you say: elle "rit" which means: she laughs ( for example) , but you don't pronounce the "t", so it sounds like ri...

yes sis ur right too, elle rit = she laughs but 'rire' means 'to laugh' .. linguistically speaking it is the infinitive form of the verb like when we say 'to drive' 'to run' 'to see' rather than the 'I see, you see, he/she sees' form ..
