Women who have a job
« on: Wednesday 16 July 2003, 04:34 »
Hello, I'm a girl from Spain and I'm very interested in the arabic culture.
What do arabs think about women who have a job? Do girls study in arabic countries or are they seen just as "mothers" and "housewives"? Do your mothers work?

Hello!
I'm not an expert on Arabic culture as I am not Arab, but I am a Muslim. Not all Arabs are Muslims, and not all Muslims are Arabs
In Islam women are free to have a job and are allowed to keep every penny they earn to do what they would like to do with it, within Islamic law.
Cultures are often different from religion. Some women in Islam stay at home as a wife and mother, and this is seen as an honoured job for which they can be paid for.
I myself am at university, and insha'Allah will get a job when I am finished but in the future I hope to be a proud mother and wife!
Many many Arab mothers and Muslim mothers work, probably just like in Spain :D
I hope insha'Allah I have answered your questions :blowkiss:
Welcome to Talk About Islam Maria, I look forwards to reading you!
Perhaps some members of TAI who are Arab will answer too!
Aaliyah :sis1

Dear Sister,

As An Arab and Muslim Girl I will tell what I know about my country .. UAE

Here this country is very new to the education process for example 30 years before they were not that Typical school  .. I mean like classes or such things .. there were few people who teaches the Quran and Basic things like Arabic and math, (A lady for girls and A man for the boys), and that was obligatroy .. so now most of the parents are not educated .. like my parents they are not educated ..

about the women now adays almost everybody in my country is educated (the new generation) .. and it very ordinary for a woman to study in schools university and also abroad... even the women who studiesand graduated from the university  here is more that the men ... Because men here prefer to work quickly...

as for how do they look to the working women .. it is very respectful ... they know that they can do what any man could do and they resoect them very much .. and there is alot in working mothers in my country and that dosn't affect their family....

That's true Hanan

Maria

As long as the woman is not negleecting her husband and kids, it's ok to work, if thers was nothing unlawful in what she's working....

I was really surprised with your question, i thought that the media talked enough about this, but now I wonder what do people see on TV about Arabs

Truely ammazing!

I used to be shocked sometimes when I see our media still talking about the role of Muslim women and their work and studies, and I used to say: What are they trying to proove? We all know that already!

Maria, we do study, we do get our degrees and PHDs, we do work, we do take part in many things in our societies besides staying at home and having kids and raising them :)

Assalam Alaikum

i have posted a new thread regarding a short survey which ties in neatly with what this topic is about.

Though it is mainly aimed at Muslim women living and working in england

Many thanks

Scholars have disallowed women to work outside home without a need.

Please bring fatwa's first.
