Different Arabic forms of writing?
« on: Thursday 13 February 2003, 16:32 »
I've only learnt reading arabic where the letters have dots and lines above and below them like the example below:

Thats Sheen zeer Nuun "Shin"

I can read the Qur'an properly because I have one which is written like that.

There is a simplified form of Arabic but I don't know how to read it I mean how would you know how to prounce the word without the dots and lines?

بوش يطالب الأمم المتحدة بالحزم حيال العراق

Hi Ali

The lines that you are talking about are what we call them in Arabic: harakat  حركات

We have the damma ضمة ُ
The fatha فتحة َ
The kasra which is like fatha but put under the letter

These harakat changes in the last leter of the word accprding to the word's posiion in the sentence, you can learn which one to put by learning the rules of Aabic language which is not hard.

As for the harakat in the beginning and middle of the word, you need to hear arabic and read alot to get used to that.

 بُوشُ يطاِلبُ الأمَمَ الُمَتِحَدةَ بالحَزمِ حَيالَ العِرَاقِ
