"Try to be near to Perfection"
« on: Friday 24 January 2003, 04:05 »
Narrated Abu Huraira (Radhiallaho anho):
The Prophet (sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) said,

"Religion is very easy and whoever overburdens himself in his religion will not be able to continue in that way. So you should not be
extremists, but try to be near to perfection and receive the good tidings that you will be rewarded; and gain strength by worshipping in the mornings, the nights."

Bukhari    Vol. 1 : No. 38

OK I found it

it is interesting to see how the authors made it clear that Fath al Bary should be reviewed for the meaning of this hadeeth, and the one who sent you the email my sister Devoted, has omitted that.

Here is the hadith,

Those who can read arabic would see the HUGE disparity between the extraordinary eloquence of the words of the prophpet in Arabic, and the words used in English.

Read this with me:

Volume 1, Book 2, Number 38:
Narrated Abu Huraira:

The Prophet said, "Religion is very easy and whoever overburdens himself in his religion will not be able to continue in that way. So you should not be extremists, but try to be near to perfection and receive the good tidings that you will be rewarded; and gain strength by worshipping in the mornings, the nights." (See Fath-ul-Bari, Page 102, Vol 1).

at ease in religion

Shouldn't all who are religious be at ease in their religion?  To be struggling with keeping rules, and to be afraid of stepping out of line, those would seem to be bondage.  I find that grace and forgiveness replace legalism and bondage quite quickly.

ciao

May Allah bless your heart my dear.

Paul, we know well that Allah is Very Forgiving and Very Generous in Pardon, but should we encourage people to rely on this????
