It would appear that if you do not get rice crispy treats ready made, and do not get pop tarts then you do not have to worry about pork.

Beef gelatin is used in the Frosted Wheats not in any other.

My guess is that they use these gelatin products to make the sugar stick to the cereal products.

It would appear that the entire line is not affected just these specifics.

I may be a little dense, but ingredients are all listed on food packages, otherwise there would never have been a question.  I do not understand the comment about being cheated, please explain that, Hanan.

What  I meant that the ingredients  of kellogs here in UAE, do not say too much about the king of gelatin inside it .. and I'd read lately that some of Kellogs Products are containing components that may cause cancer .. but here (UAE nad arab worlds in general) u can't such things.

I also saw a programme for long time that said that there is a kind of milk  I think it is DANO is not allowed to be sold in the European Countries, but here you can buy from anywhere you like ...

There is also a lot of things I read even about areabice companies (For chicken products) companies that they discoverd thay are using a componenets from the pork .. and I read that from a very responsible site .. but here also u didn't hear about it and you can the products of these companies in the market ...

Is not that a cheating ?!   :mad

Really I very upset from what is happening around us .. and how they hide the facts from us .. u know that now I am afraid to buy some thing from the market before reading and searching very carefully about it's history and from where it is imported ...

I may be overreacting but really that what I feel right now ... May Allah help us all

I understand your trepidation concerning imported products.  I did not look to see what country you were living in if it is in your profile, I was lazy and did not check.

In the U.S. the government has regulations concerning such things and truth in labeling, which is probably where your sources got their information.  In any case, it would be the local government that would be the problem, not the company.  If the company is following the laws that they are required to follow then it is the source of the law that should receive your anger.

One thing you might not have thought about, but probably already did think about it.  Many US companies have foods that are packaged as "Kosher" for Jews.  These cannot contain pork and also cannot mix things like meat and cheese in the same package and so on.  If you were to look for Kosher products you might find just what you require since the companies have to employ Rabbis to supervise the cleanliness of the production equipment and the separation of the production line from non-Kosher foods.

It is just a thought, but if it is a troubling matter for your heart, you should protect your heart so that your own heart does not condemn your well-meaning actions.

I have not seen any but that is not conclusive
« Reply #9 on: Wednesday 19 February 2003, 12:47 »
I am not a Muslim, so since I have not seen it that does not mean that it does not exist.  Islam is still a minority religion in my country so the chances are a little slim.  I did not know, for instance, that you needed meat slaughtered a special way.  No one that I know who is muslim, has ever said anything about that.  There are large numbers of Jews in different areas of my country and they have organized lobbys to get things done.  I suppose the best thing would be to have some Muslim organization that can boast a large membership in any area start asking for special considerations.

In the Emirates, I would think that the Emir should provide law to require such concessions from food imports.  I do not know what the different royal families would have to say.  Is there some kind of government office that regulates food imports?  Is there some Prince that might be heading such a government department to complain to that is also Muslim?

Just thoughts to ponder

ciao
paul
