A question (Conversion to Islam)
« on: Monday 30 December 2002, 08:17 »
Dear all,
I would be interested in your views concerning some thoughts of mine.
I have been contemplating conversion to Islam for many months now. Currently I am a non-practising Roman Catholic.
I 'think' I agree with the teachings and way of life presented in Islam (I must confess to not knowing as much as I would like on the subject but I am still learning)
The thing I would like to ask is this. If I did convert to Islam (officialy as opposed to leading a Muslim life on my own) I know that I would not make a very good one. I know that I would not make the call to prayer 5 times a day (either through laziness, forgetfulness or otherwise) I am also slightly dubious about the Zakat (I believe this is the name for the annual charity) but who wouldnt be wary about giving over money when you come from the Catholic church?
With that in mind, should I really be considering turning to Islam? Is there any point in announcing a new faith if I could not follow it as prescribed by Muhammed?

Thank you and I look forward to reading your opinions.

Dearest D. Scotland……..

That would be THE BEST DECISION ever you made in your lifetime!!!!!

Don’t hesitate… May God open your heart to Islam and may He guide you.

Dear D.

Please feel free to ask about anything you wish and God willing you would find many of our Muslim brothers and sisters here on our forums on http://www.TalkAboutIslam.com more than willing to help…..

D…..  Trust God….  Place your confidence in God.

He will guide you and give you the true feeling of peace in your heart…..

You inchaaAllah (God willing) will be a very good Muslim…

I know that I would not make the call to prayer 5 times a day

Still D……..  The most important thing is to have the Right Doctrine about God and the messengers, angels and The Koran, and not to commit blasphemy….

Even if you do not pray, it would be truly great if you embrace Islam as soon as possible.

Quote from: D. (Scotland)
(either through laziness, forgetfulness or otherwise)

Forgetfulness is an excuse ………  If one forgets totally to pray, he or she is not to be asked on the last day: Why you did not pray that prayer??

Allah, God, knows that we can not afford not to forget sometimes … though we at times forget things that are truly important …

God is Merciful D……  God forgives us when we forget.

In the same way, if one simply sleeps and it happens that he or she did not wake up for the prayer of the early morning (we call it fajr), then he or she would not be questioned on the last day about this…….

I am also slightly dubious about the Zakat (I believe this is the name for the annual charity) but who wouldnt be wary about giving over money when you come from the Catholic church?

Dearest D…  The Zakat (yes you wrote that well) is only in special things, and is not obligatory irrespective of what your property is…

Plus, when it is obligatory, and only then, it is often a very very small percentage….

By God, DO become Muslim now! It is enough for you to say :

I strongly declare and definitely confirm that there is no God but Allah (no Diety but The Creator of this universe) and Mouhammad, Aboul Qassim is His prophet and messenger.

Even if you do not start today praying ……  Become Muslim now…

The prophet taught us D. that the most important thing in Islam is to have the right belief in God, the right doctrine that is.

The acts of obedience come second to this great act of worship: having the right creed.

Even if you do not now start praying and giving out the zakat, become Muslim now and God Willing you would be doing THE BEST thing EVER you did in your life….

You would learn the Great Creed of Islam with us here on our forums on http://www.TalkAboutIslam.com ……

To become a Muslim, simply say:
I strongly declare and definitely confirm that there is no God but Allah (no Diety but The Creator of this universe) and Mouhammad, Aboul Qassim is His prophet and messenger.

Please tell me you said so ….      (Y)  (Y)  (Y)  (Y)  (Y)  (Y)

Islam is the true Religion and it is the religion of all the pious people and all the Prophets and Messengers from Adam to Moses to Abraham to Jesus and of course our beloved Prophet Muhammad, the best of all Creation.

The person who hears about Islam and embraces it will have eternal happiness in the hearafter. The person who objects to it will not. It is the Religion sent by God to mankind, and it is wise and just, and its beliefs are rational. It is incumbent upon the accountable human being to embrace Islam immideately and not to hesitate, and he/she will find herself very happy in this life and in the Hearafter.

I encourage D from scotland to embrace Islam, and to find out the beauty of being a Muslim.  :ulv1

This is the truth and nothing except the truth

if we can say :Allah did confer a great favour on the Believers when He sent among them a Messenger from among themselves, rehearsing unto them the Signs of Allah, sanctifying them, and instructing them in Scripture and Wisdom, while before that, they had been in manifest error.

Go ahead dear, you will find every thing in your life change. And you well feel   security and happiness Allah bless you  :bh1  :ulv1  :ulv1  :ulv1

D. (Scotland), try looking into your own religion first. I think you will find that the Christian teachings are similar but are the ones that are the truth. Thankyou...  :ulv1

i have looked into the christian belief system, especially the catholic church, and what i found has horrified me.
the new testament has been edited to such an extent by human hands that it amazes me how millions of people have put their faith in it. the 4 gospels not only disagree with each other but sometimes violently contradict the others with their accounts.
i also believe in having a direct link to god, not through a church, priest or 'middle-man' so to speak.
