I was eagerly reading your words...... till this accusation... At this I abandon..

Paul, you know well what communication is, and you know well this is not the way you draw the attention of the reader…

If I had made the statement without support, then you would be completely correct.  I was giving my opinion and showing first why my opinion was that way.  I do not think it is unexpected.  Effectively what I said was that "this is what I see and here is my conclusion from it" so it leaves it open for anyone to disagree and to justify why they disagree.

Personally, if I were to simply use lofty words to describe my religious world view and then claim that it was intellectual, I would be guilty of the same thing.  I do not claim to "Know all about God" but I have a relationship personally with him.  To claim that has no support unless you were to walk with me and know me.  I am not afraid to say that God is mysterious to man since I know he cannot be described in human terms, however, when I stated that many could not bear the weight of such words.  Many think that they have God all figured out and then they use elevated words that have little to no concrete meaning.  That does claim a credibility that does not exist, it merely is a presumption.

ciao
paul

In His own image
« Reply #62 on: Wednesday 29 January 2003, 23:38 »
Sahih Muslim - Book 032, Number 6325:
This hadith has been transmitted on the authority of Abu Huraira and in the hadith transmitted on the authority of Ibn Hatim Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) is reported to have said: When any one of you fights with his brother, he should avoid his face for Allah created Adam in His own image.

Why would this rationale be of any significance if the sense is Adam's own image rather than generally man in the semblance of God?

The translation is a bad one.

The meaning of the hadith is that Allah created Adam in the image of the human being we know, yet much different in size...

The prophet did not say that God has an image....

Assalamu Alaykum brothers, sorry for jumping in, but the discussion on ALLAH being at one place or all over the place is a very old discussion. According to the Mystics of Islam, the difference between "Wahdat-al-Wajood' and Wahdat-al-Shahood"  is like "being" and "existence". It basically expresses the notion of the existence of the universe "for Him'" or "by Him" and it depends on you how you "word' it.

So the difference is, is He there (at one place) or is He present (all over the place)? For instance a Sufi Elder who used to favor his disciple more than the others, one of the disciple asked him why his teacher the Sufi is doing so?. One day the Sufi gave the student who was asking the question a goat and a knife and told him to go slaughter the goat where he feels there is no God, after hour and a half he came back with the slaughtered goat telling the Sufi that after a long walk he found a cave, he went in, slaughtered the goat and came back.

Now the Sufi gave one goat and a knife to the one who was accused of being favored, and the Sufi teacher told him the same thing, the student went away with the goat and came back after 5 hours with the goat still walking behind him. The Sufi teacher asked him why he never slaughtered the goat, the student replied....Well I couldn't find a place when there is no God.....

Dear Brothers and Sisters;

 :bismillah

Please again careful here.

The wording is very tricky, because we are trying to describe almighty Allah.
When He told us that we cannot imagine the Paradise that he prepared for the Muslims he used that no eye ever saw and no ear ever heard and no imagination can ever reach the true Paradise. So we stopped there because it showed our limitations. Now we are talking about a creation of Allah, so how can we talk about Him.

We know he created the place so he existed before the place.

Allah does not change, because the one who changes means he was not perfect then he became better, or he was better and became less. Allah is perfect and this does not change, so he does not change.

We do not say he is everywhere, imagine someone told you to have your office in the washroom, you will not accept because it is not the place to be.... Allah is not there.

The being who exists in a place needs the place, Allah does not need any of his creation.

Therefore, Allah exists without a place.

Hard to imagine, then try to imagine that there was a time when there was nothing but Allah..
No light no dark, no place no space, no time no sun no earth......

But the story was: He told them to go and kill the animal where No one can see you.... But Allah see all that we do and knows about it.

The knowledge of Islam is the best knowledge we can acquire. If we don't we will regret it.

Salam

May Allah give you a short time to understand this short talk.
There is something exist which proves Allahs existance everywhere.
You are a human. So you have a soul. This soul has a short time and after that death.
There are many fellow in this earth. The total amount of fellow is controlled by Allah.
So Allah exist everywhere. This is only one step. There are many other examples.
If you believe in soul than you have to believe that.
