Origination of evil in the world
« on: Monday 09 December 2002, 03:01 »
Hi!  My question is "how did evil originate here on earth" from the Quranic perspective? This will of course lead to other questions of the Islamic theology of Allah and who He is in relation to His creation, man. Thank you for any help you can offer.

Origination of evil in the world

Welcome Albert_18499,

As Muslims we believe that God (Allah in Arabic) created Good and Evil.  Allah Eternally willed for both good and evil, however, God did not order us to do the evil.  Allah orders us to be obedient.  I just wanted to make that clarification from the beginning because some people believe that Allah created the good and Satan created the evil.

As Muslims, we believe that Allah created everything.  Whatever Allah willed to be shall be and whatever Allah willed to be shall not be.

As for how evil originated on earth, look at the next post...

Thank you for the info. Can you please give me the surah and verse that says Allah has created good and evil? I have a Quran and would appreciate knowing where to look it up. Thanks

The origin of evil on this earth is the Satan (The head of Devils) who influences the slaves of Allah to disobey Him.

The following are the verses which you have requested:

Allah said in Al-Qur'an:

Surat Al-'An^am verse 101:

ÈóÏöíÚõ ÇáÓøóãóæóÇÊö æóÇáÃóÑúÖö Ãóäøóì íóßõæäõ áóåõ æóáóÏñ æóáóãú Êóßõä áøóåõ ÕóÇÍöÈóÉñ æóÎóáóÞó ßõáøó ÔóìúÁò æåõæó Èößõáøö ÔóìúÁò Úóáöíãñ

It can be deduced from this verse that Allah created everything.

Surat Al-Falaq verse 2:

ãöä ÔóÑøö ãóÇ ÎóáóÞó

It can be deduced from this verse that Allah created the evil.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesistate to ask  :grin.

which means: "The Initiator of the heavens and the earth. How can He have a son, when He never had a mate? He created all things, and He is fully aware of all things".

Quote

and in Surat Al-Falaq verse 2:
ãöä ÔóÑøö ãóÇ ÎóáóÞó
[/size]

which means: "From the evils among His creations"

May Allah bless sis zahedah.

Thank you for your help. I looked up the surah you listed, and I can believe that all things were created by Him. I hope you will be patient with me and not think I am impertinent, but I have another question now. Is creating evil the same as doing evil?  Albert

You are very welcome  :grin.  Our forum is open to all those who want to ask, learn, and benefit, like yourself :wave2.

Creating evil is no way like committing evil.   God is just and we can never attribute to Him unjustness.  No matter what God does with His creations, He is just.  God can do with His creations whatever He Wills.

first welcome albert, and this is the first time I reply to any of your posts to the best of my knowledge....

Welcome to TalkAboutIslam.com  :wave2

Thank you for signing up with us .

As to answer your question :

Creating Evil is by no means the same as doing evil.

Doing evil is doing what Allah has made illegal to us.

Allah is THE ALL MIGHTY THE LORD, and thus He has no rules to abide to, and Thus, we have no right to ask Him why He created this or that.

N.B. :  Everything is predestined by God, and created by God. Yet, Allah, God, does not agree the evil doings of His creatures.

I now know that Allah in Islamic belief has created the potential for evil,  but I would now like to know if Allah is totally good in His essence. I know that the 99 names of Allah are descriptions of his embodiment but I wonder if He is Pure Goodness or not.

in Islamic Belief, God created the potential for evil, and created evil things, evil doings, and evil doers.... God created everything...

I am not sure what you meant by saying "embodiment" but let me tell you this : Islamic belief is that God is not a body, not a mass.

God is not light like the clouds, the spirit, air and fire...

God is not concrete like the humany body or any part of that.

God does not resemble His Creations.
