Read with me arefully what our prophet Muhammad peace be upon him said:

ان العبد ليتكلم بالكلمة لا يرى بها بأسا يهوي بها في النار سبعين خريفا

A man can say a word that he dont see any harm in it, but it causes his falling in hellfire for seventy year.  

This distance of falling -seventy years- leads to the place of blasphemours.

This means that the person may say a word that he thinks harmless, he doesnt see it a sin, but it's blasphemous and take him out of Islam.

The blasphemous saying take the person out of Islam if he say it, even if he didnt believe in it.

If a person was joking, so he made fun of the prophet for example, he's a blasphemer, even if he said: I didnt mena that, I dont believe in what I've said, I respect prophet Muhammad......

Just saying that word takes him out of Islam, and to return to Islam a person must utter the two testifications.

So, for what you've said, you must say the two testification.
