I have a question that does somewhat corrolate with the whole "women's expectations of men" and the like. What about the "Independent Woman" image, this STRIFE so that us men don't open the doors for you anymore, don't let you have our seat if all others are taken, to give you a slight advantage when we know you're at a disadvantage. Are the sisters here FOR that...maybe not in its entirety, but if they are, to what extent? I'm curious.

I just wanted to say Barak Allah'u feeki for starting this thread, it came in very handy and might i add that it actually saved my marriage. SubhanAllah the answers i was looking for no one really wanted to help me with and then a dear friend of mine told me to check out this website..

I understood what the obligations were as men were constantly telling me them but if we were to JUST follow the obligations and not follow also the recommendations by the beloved Prophet (May peace and blessings be upon him) then things would be hard in reality. My problem was that my husband was ONLY following the obligations due to him yet i was doing the obligations PLUS the recommendations which was (cooking, cleaning.. etc).

Who is the best to learn off other than the Prophet (May peace and blessings be upon him), for he was perfect, so why would we not look to someone who was perfect for advise? Its a pitty that alot of the time these recommendations are not being told as marriage advise to couples before marriage. I live in a part of Australia where it is hard to get this advise from knowledgable people which resulted in me turning to the internet.

Once again Barak Allah'u Feeki for this, i can not thankyou enough.
