Dear sis could you please put up the signs by which one would know the soul has left the body - which shaykh Saleem told you.

May Allaah bless you.

First of all there are cases in which the initiation of treatment is not wajeb - however once treatment is started (no matter what it is) and the patient's life depends on it, then we cannot withdraw it.
If the patient reached a state that he/she does not benefit from the life support machine, and does not get harmed by pulling off the machine (somehow this is contradictory, coz if the patient was on life support machines, then it means they cannot live without it, but anyway) then it is permissible to take it of him.
If the patient lives because of the machine or the tubes then it is not permitted to take it of him.

It is also obligatory to insert tubes rough which we can feed the patient when possible.

Finally, you can remove tubes/machines only when it's established that the soul has left the body (Even if the heart is still beating) - this is shown by certain signs including انخفاض في الصدغ و انخلاع الذراع
This info as given by Sheikh Salim Alwan - Mufti of darulfatwa Australia, and I also asked some of the sheikhs in Beirut. Hopefully I will get more information (on different topics) when i get to Beirut.

Baraka allah feekom
L.
