How do i tell my family im Muslim

Hello all,

I have just recently reverted to Islam now i have find away to tell my family, i told my older sister and her reaction was fine but she pretty much said dont tell mum or dad as they wont understand. Its a really hard thing to do when your the only one in the family who has takrn this path.

Please let me know if you have any advise.

Thankk you for your replying. I ask Allah for strengh to confront my family and i knw i can im jus not sure how to approach them. You asked how i became Muslim? i guess iv already heard lil things here and there from friends ect..., I realised i never quectioned anything that i heard and it made so much sense to me the only problem was i neva new what 2 do about it so i pulled completly away frm christanity(2 tel u the truth i never understood any of it evn when people would tlk to me about christianty it neva interested me) n 4 about a year i wuld tell people i knw theres a god but thats it, i didnt believe in christianty but didnt know enuf bout islam & had no knw 2 teach me. It wasnt until my bestfriend reverted that i jus got stuk into book and dvd's. I have never felt so found, so happy i finaly have faith 2 get me through my worst times.

Firstly, welcome to TAI our dear sister, by the will of God you can learn alot from the forum and the brothers and sisters here are always willing to help for the sake of Allah


Patience will be needed with your family and with time they should hopefully come to understand that you are not part of some religion which they see portrayed in the media

I suggest you take some time reading the articles on TAI about Christianity and Islam and about common misconceptions people have about Islam. Keep learning and gaining Islamic knowledge so you are able to defend and portray the true essence of a Muslim.

Families are important in our life, we love and care about them so much and we want all the best for them and sharing such news with family might be hard, and we cant tell the what is the reactions are...

someone would suggest that you start talking your family about Islam and what a great religion it is and to try clarify any bad images they got about Islam...

Then, let them feel how happy you are in your life and that you have found the right path....

I have only recently reverted i have read alot and understand alot but your opinion what do you think i should learn and understand at this early stage i have just started reading the Qur'an and started reading books on Prophet Muhammed( peace and blessing of Allah be upon him). Im also reading alot of Hand books for Muslim woman.
If you have any ideas please let me know.
