9-11..what sect did they follow?
« on: Friday 26 July 2002, 15:16 »
I've heard about sects who distort Islam to suit their own wants...and do bad things as a result. Does anyone know if the 9-11 hijackers follow any specific deviant sect? I know Muhammad Atta was a Sunni before he went astray..I've just been wondering this for some time now. :be1 :bsf4

Salaam ^Alaykum Crow,
Well you are right the 911 hijakers WERE NOT followers of the Ahli Sunnah Wal Jama^a, and neither is Bin Laden or any of his deputies,

Bin Laden and his croonies, are followers of the Wahabies and also the Ikhwan, both of this groups ARE not Sunnis actually.

and the hijakers were influenced by both sects. Their ideas are clear enough to show beyond any doubt that the hijackers DID belong to the Wahhabi extremist heretic sect.

hope this helps

Yikes :dbs1  those wahabies get around! :dbs1 I have another concearn..I live in Portland, Maine, and the mosque I go to..well, I looked at a map, and Mecca is somewhat southeast from here..but the people at the mosque I go to face north/northeast when they pray..why is this? I mean, at the same time, they say that they follow true Islam, and not any sect..that sects are merely from people who changed the word of Allah..and I've heard that wahabies pray towards the north..so..why are they facing north?:be1

Welcome brother crow :lbw1

You have asked a pretty important question, that concerns most people living in North America.

The Qibla is actually SouthEast. Just like you did, if u look at the map, you see the Ka^bah in the SouthEast of North America, that's where u are.

I also live in N. America, in the US, and I agree with you, there are A LOT of mosques where they stand in the wrong direction, and MOST of them are wahhabis, the others are just following the rest, they see their direction North East so they follow... However, there are also a lot of mosques with the right direction, ie SouthEast. I think MOST of the ones in California are right. So watch out bro :) the Qibla is SouthEast, not NorthEast in North America.

As from where they got this idea, originally few engineers made calculations on which is the shortest way to go from North America to the Ka^bah and they found out that the shortest way would be NorthEast, so they started praying toward the shortest way to get there, however it is not right, we pray in the direction of al Ka^bah NOT toward the shortest way to get to the ka^bah :lbw1

I hope I answered your question

:bt1  Just so you know, I'm a sister :p  I also think that the people at the mosque I go to are legit Muslims, but they were somehow misinformed about the direction of the Kaba..I told one of the sheiks there that I did look at a map, and he sort of passively brushed the subject aside..how do I go about explaining that we should be facing southeast? I mean, so I dont make them think I'm being judgemental of them :bsf4 :be1 :lo1

oops :$ sorry sister, u know i didn't mean to call u a brother, but i didn;t know ;-)

I totally understand you, I have the same problem here, but even after telling them, they didn;t change the direction :-(

Sister, our Religion is simple, for one to find the direction to pray, it doesn't need him/her a math degree, simply, u need to know where you are and then know the direction. We are in the North, the Ka^bah is at our southEast :-) easy and simple, why do they make a big deal out of it, I don't know.

After an experience, I don't think you would have a big chance of convincing them to change, but you can always try sis ;-)

good luck

I am to this day as shocked as the very 9-11

you can't imagine what face I had when I saw the news !!

I was so shocked by the amplitude of the operations and so shocked by how fast everything seemed to be happening....

I was just speechless....

Today, one Year Later, the SAME wahhabi sect that shook the world with the 9-11 is still out there at large in Saoudi Arabia and Qatar...

There are serious reports by independent Journalists about some Mid- to Big Training facilities both in Saoudia Arabia and Qatar...

Well, What did we do to prevent another 9-11 ???

What did you do ???

Do you feel in Security as long as Wahhabis are so fast in promoting their extremist ideas among frustrated youths ??

Questions that I think should be addressed and answered properly...

Masha Allah, it all depends on where you go how common it is for the muslims to face the wrong direction when praying.  For the most part it only seems to be a big problem here in the US.   But at one time in the US (no more than 28 years ago) they all faced S.E. and the muslim graves faced S.E.  Following the shortest direction is something which is new and not valid.  Also for many of the people who will pray N.E. in a mosque- they pray S.E. at home (especially people not born here).

There is a book which talks about the prayer direction and gives the proofs.  Insha Allah I will find the link for it.  I hope this helps.  But like True Muslim, I have found that it is easier to convince one person rather than an entire mosque.

It is a muslims personal obligation to determine the prayer direction unless they are praying in the prophets mosque or the like. Also, one's prayer is not valid if they do not face the qiblah.

Here is a quote from the book The Substantiation of the People of Truth that the Direction of al-Qiblah in the United States and Canada is to the Southeast

" To endeavor to determine al-Qiblah  is a must in other than the maharib of the Prophet and the Companions, and the like, just as we have established earlier by the sayings and statements of the scholars.  An-Nawawiyy  related about ash-Shafi^iyy  that a seeing person is not entitled to follow somebody else in the direction of al-Qiblah , because he can endeavor to determine the direction himself.  He said: "If he prays, i.e., without endeavoring to determine the direction, he has to repeat his prayers."
