Why do we Fast
« on: Wednesday 13 July 2011, 11:37 »
Dear readers

I have heard so many explanations of why Muslims fast Ramadan, or Fasting in General.
1- The most common explanation is for the rich to feel with the poor.

unfortunately this is not true because so many people do not think the poor during this month but they spend on their guests who are not poor much more than giving money to the poor.

2- It is healthy for the body to take break from eating all day and fasting will cleanse your body.
People who are not fat are fasting, some sick are fasting too.

3- It is a way for your body to loose accumulated fat (a forced diet).

So many people end up with more weight than what they had when they started fasting. And even thin people had to fast.

4- It is a show of self control test mentally and physically.

Everyday Muslims show self control by not eating pork, not drinking beer, not gambling... why do we need one more self control?

By the way, if anyone is fasting for any of the above reasons then they are fasting for that reason and they did not preform the act of worship.

The ONLY reason why Muslims are fastting is :

Allah ordered Muslim to Fast Ramadan and they are OBEYING Allah .
They hope to get the rewards he promised them
- if we do it for the right reason-.

And Allah knows best.

We fast because we believe that the reward is prepared in Paradise. The reward that no eye had ever seen, no one had ever heard and no one had ever imagined.

Fasting is widely known order. Scholars and ordinary Muslim , the old and young people, men and women  know and knew about this order.

We do not question Allah’ orders. We just follow it.  Allah created every thing. The things we can imagine and we can not imagine, the things we can feel and we can not feel.  Allah created the light and the darkness. Can you imagine when there is no light and at the time there is no darkness.

So Allah’ orders is not questioned, but people will be questioned whether or not they followed the Allah’ orders.

And we believe if there is a mercy (Rohma) from Allah for us, It is best thing for us comparing to all other our deeds and gainings.

Thank you manhil.fatima.

Your name sounds very nice. I know Fatima is the daughter of our prophet ( solollohu alayhi wassalam). What does Manahil mean ?

During the month Ramadan, Muslims gather to pray Tarowih together. Praying Tarowih together was introduced during the time of Caliph ^Umar Ibn Al-Khattab. He was the first to guard Muslims during the night time. ^Umar Ibn Al-Khattab was strong and courageous man. Some say that he was mentioned in Tora ( Tawrot) as strong as iron and the king of all strong people.

Dear Brothers and Sisters;

May Allah be pleased with our Master Omar bin Alkhatab , and reward him greatly he was the khalifah of Propehet Muhammad peace be upon and was known for being both strong and Just.

A Reminder that Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him was very happy when Omar became Muslim and he was so pleased with him during his life that he honored him by marrying his daughter Lady Safieah may Allah be pleased with her.

I have questions about fasting. I hope someone  will direct me to find the answer.

If someone had high or low blood pressure that caused headache, may he/she break the fast ?

If someone got sweat in these hot days and takes shower , does he break his fast?

may Allah except all your prayers and fasts dear muslim brothers and sisters

Dear Akbar

 :salam1

As for as I know to break fast in Ramadan for medical reasons the person has to measure his discomfort is it bearable or is it so bad that it is harming him and is worsening his condition, then he should check with a Muslim pious doctor who can advise him about fasting or not. If he breaks his fast, he needs to make it up again when he feels better.

As for taking a bath, that does not break your fast as long as you are not getting water into your mouth, and if you do you spit it and do not swallow it, and do not get water into the nose in a way that it goes through to your mouth into your body.

And Allah knows best.

May Allah give you strength and enable Muslims to preform their obligatory.

salam

Dear brother Akbar

 :salam1

Please do not hesitate to share some of these questions with us so we can all learn the answers.

As for seeing the Prophet : Ameen, I long for that.
May Allah reward you greatly for your efforts, and grant you paradise (Ameen).

Salam
