Topic: defend Islam of avoid loosing batle?

I have a situation at work and was hoping that some of you would have suggestions on how to handle them, in an Islamic way.

My work is very unfriendly when it comes to other cultures and religions especially Islam.

I know there is section in Quran which basically states if they mock the religion then leave, how ever they do not actuly mock the religion but rather a constant implication that all Muslims are terrorist and that the Quran is teaching me to build bombs.

I can not walk into room with out some one saying there is that #@%$ Muslim again.


I am supposed to be in room for meetings however, my boss would let me out of them if I asked.

The problem remains in my mind at least that I am caving in and letting them feel, as there is no good response so I must be quitting.

I mean they do not understand that I would just be trying to avoid conflict on some thing we will never agree on.

So do you all think I should stay and try to defend Islam or just leave?

In addition, if I stay could you suggest some things that I could point out that would make them think about what they are doing.

i am no expert in this field at all but i would hazard a guess that if you try to explain or defend you could end up slandering islam --- when they twist what you say and you try to explain it...

does that make any sense?

you must do what is in your heart first and foremost but (from a female point of view - which are obviously less aggressive than men) i would think that the love you have from God which will start to light you up from the inside will be more eloquent than ANY words you can say. 

SILENCE is a great thing - and one that people do not appreciate or spend enough time valuing, i believe.

you don't have to SAY anything.  you just have to be and to do ------  i like your quote "i was put on this earth to serve, and i will".

to bear insult and injury is the fate of a person searching for truth and nothing but truth.

other people's actions are not under your control - only yours.  don't do anything that is shameful.  act honorably under all circumstances regardless of provocation. 

love is the only antidote to hate.  that is why it is good to love thine enemy - because if we saw it truly we would realise that there is no enemy - only us.

ignorance and fear are tied together.

above all i guess i would turn to your Koran. 

if you read what it says in the Koran, that is your sacred scripture - then hold fast to all good virtues that you can patience, perseverance, love, serenity, truth, courage and, of course, love God.  love God.  love God.  love God. 

good luck with it...

(and do remember it is just my opinion and i am not in your circumstance and know extremely little about it so what is written above might be entirely unhelpful ---- don't fear though.  do what YOU think)

oh - and just to add as you asked for more concrete advice on what to say.  but the next time they say "oh look, here comes that %^^&%&^*  muslim".............  perhaps you can smile and say gently "yes, and if you ever would like to know more about islam you can always ask me"

you never know - perhaps they will!!!!

That is it exactly these men at work are very well known for tripping you up even when you are sure of your self.

 I find your posts to be very insightful and I ask that you proofread your posts before sending them.
The sanctity of your spirit is never in question, but your sloppy writing habits could diminish your message.

Mistakes like these,  may reflect poorly on your depth of devotion to Islam. Nobody is perfect, but when positing on matters of Islam, please endeavour to choose your words carefully. OK?

It is indeed a really strong and picky issue. Our Prophet Mohammad (sallalahu alayhi wa salaam) used to handle the mockings and the making fun ofs by silence, in some cases. . If you see that it will be of no use and it will provoke fight, then simply walk out.

I am always happy when my mistakes are pointed out to me, this allows me to grow and better myself. Dan has atrocious spelling.

Yes, my spelling is bad, and that is why I usually use Microsoft word then paste.

Unfortunately, sometimes I do it in a hurry and do not then mistakes are very bad.

Dan, don't get me wrong, atrocious spelling is OK. But as a Muslim we have a responsibility to  to be clear when we posit (not to be confused with posting on Islam) on matters of Islam.
A little more effort would show respect for Islam. The choice is yours. I am not making a moral judgement here. It's all good.
