Topic: dirrection to face in prayer

I am In Cloverdale IN. USA nearest big city is Indianapolis.   Well long story short what direction would I face to pray?

I know have down load on my computer which alerts me to prayer time and sings it for me so I can try to learn.

Also have down load on how to do Salat, but do not know which dirrection to face.

 is there anyway you can ask your local mosque? I am confident they will tell you.
I get my prayer times from this website, because its awfully guaranteed accurate.
I am not sure which Cloverdale you live in ( there are many codes  , such as AL , ..etc, but you can browse here and see  I hope this helps.

is the address of a mosque in Indianapolis - i suppose you could call them and ask?  and at the same time they may be able to help you with your other queries (salat etc. - i hope i have that right/ i don't know what salat is either!)...

if you use google maps directions it will even tell you how to drive there - right from your house (just enter both zip codes!).  the internet is great sometimes!!!

for my google search i just put in "mosques indianapolis" and a lot of websites/info came up so if you don't like the two that i have posted i am sure you can find others........ but i hope i haven't overwhelmed you with info!

by the way - i have been to America and i LOOOVED it... i found the people so friendly and so positive and upbeat (altho i assume you are not an American originally, is that right??? ).  i never got as far as Indiana though ---  is it very beautiful or flat and boring?  never mind, if you don't want to answer - that's fine.

some of the landscapes in America are amazing though - i saw the Grand Canyon and also the Rocky Mountains and some of the deserty-bits around Arizona and surrounding the Grand Canyon.  just so lovely.  hope you are enjoying your time in the USA, too.

and Watcher i have been to Australia too!!!!  and i loved that just as much (perhaps even more!) you can't guess how much of Australia i have seen --- i started in Sydney went all the way up the East Coast through Brisbane/Cairns all the way to Cape Trib and then back down and across to Three Ways and down to Adelaide via Ayers Rock and Coober Pedy across to Melbourne back across the desert to Perth and up the West Coast all the way to Darwin!!!!!!!  if you can believe it...  what a great place - so friendly and such fun.

at least, i thought so.

To everyone thanks for support and help.  I feel as I may be a pain to you some times, and I am sure everyone says go to mosque and get started already.


I understand that and I will go as soon as I get a Day off work. 

However, it is not as easy as it sounds.  I live in Cloverdale, IN usa, which is half way between Indianapolis and Terrehute IN.

These are to largest cities in Indiana, but each are forty-five miles away.

Out here in Cloverdale, it is pretty much a W.A.S.P. community

W.A.S.P. WHITE ANGLOSEXON PROTISTAN. Hope I spelled that correctly.

Therefore, if not Christian you are the antichrist and any one not born raised and looks 100% American is out cast, and of course, all Muslims are terrorist.

So for me to get any help at all I must get day off of work and drive forty five miles to Mosque, or you guys.

You all have been a great help in my search for the truth and giving me strength to go to Mosque first chance I get.

This site has helped me confirm the fact that you do not have to be Christian or American to do the Wright thing.

i am from Argentina originally (altho i have lived in many countries as my father was a diplomat and therefore we moved a lot as children) --- i am sorry to have suggested you were not American, it is not important anyway where anyone comes from, i guess.   

good luck with the mosque.  i am sure they will be super and helpful and informative and also a great community for you to get to know too.    

i don't see why you think you are a pain at all!!!!!
 - it is never wrong to ask questions and i hope you need not wait for a day off work, i am sure they will also be open on Sundays... i can't guarantee that, of course, because i don't know what are holy days in Islam but i would most definitely think that they were! 
the drive shouldn't take more than forty minutes so don't feel put off by that at all - it will probably be great for you to link into a community...  but at the same time, if you don't feel ready to go to a mosque then don't push yourself - wait until you feel comfortable with the idea and then go - you still have this community for questions, ya know!

i apologize if my last post seemed intrusive to you, it wasn't intended to be - i was glad to be reminded of my travels in the USA (and Australia).

maybe i will get to see Indiana at some point, who knows what might happen?
