لَيْسَ كَمِثْلِهِ شَيْءٌ
Keeping in line with the perception infolded in the words used and their construction it would be closer in meaning to translate it like

Never ever there is a thing to examplify Him.

Reason is obvious; everything created is either "shai" or its origin is from "shai" while Allah is the ONLY ONE, the Absolute Who is "ghair" other than "shai". Therefore there cannot be even the remotest possibility of similarity.
