Exactly! Yeah, not being a hypocrite here, you see some cultures adopt the religion and try to mold it their way, for instance in Arab societies the groom and his family give the dowry to bride while in India Moslem bride's parents give the dowry to their daughter, this is a Hindu culture. Again in Arab culture the bride wears white dress while under Hindu influence the Moslem Bride wear read dresses, however this is changing now and they feel beeter in wearing other colours.

In Chicago, on North Ridge Avenue there is a Nigerian Church called Cherubim and Seraphim Church wherein the Nigerian Christians prostrate like Moslems.

So, its not Islam, but it is the fault or mistake of the followers.

And we need to stop following those faulty cultures and go back to religion.. not only when it comes to women, but in all aspects

Non muslims aren't tuned in to hear a Khalifa. We must create a symphony with our actions. A unified pious symphony that will swell up to the heavens and save the wicked infidels from shaitan. One they see the Paradise on Earth created by A True Islamic Nation, then we willhave saved them from evil(and save ourselves from them)
The treacherous evildoers within and without our ranks find it too easy to be heard, and we are too meek to confront them.Insch'Allah,\. :salam1

I believe in what curious traveller says in shortest possible way, great work and this is great. We need to flush-out the cultures and stick to religion.

Thank you  larazahabi for your articulate & educated comments. I am so impressed that you are standing up to the men in your community. As a non muslim woman, I have never seen this happen before. Furthermore I totally agree with you that everyone has their own idea & interpretations of Islam and present it to us in the non muslim world as your truth. It does reduce our respect for Islam
Also, I wish to say that it scares me to post here as I don't know if identified a fatwah could be issued against me. That gives me the impression that Islam is violent & being involved in the Muslim community is dangerous. It perpetuates the stereotype that Muslims are terrorists. I know that Muslims are not terrorist but how do you tell who is & who isn't? I wonder what the children in the mosque in my community are being taught.

If women are not allowed positions of leadership are not even allowed to drive cars, I don't know how anyone can say Islam women have equality.
Until I read your post, larazahabi, I never had the courage to post my thougts honestly. I thank you for that. Caringpro

please feel free to post your thoughts and comments. Islam is a religion of paece and submission, and the problem nowadays ( as we were warned by the Prophet Mohammad sallalahu alayhi wa salaam) is that people interpret islam the way they want to and THINK is, instead seek knowledge from the trustwrothy source ( local Imams). Internet, books etc, are not a reliable source of learnign about Islam, we must seek knowledge from someone who studied Islam ( imam) from scholars and other imams.

Please feel free to tell everything you think and welcome to the forums!

From another seeker of knowlege,  :)

hello Emilee, Thank you for your kind words. I know your heart is in the right place. I believe that you are a woman of peace. However, because you say it is so doesn't mean it is true. On what do you base your statement? When I hear about fatwa's, stoning of women or a young couple it makes it difficult to believe that Islam is a religion of peace.  I would welcome comments. Thx Caringpro
