On my flight to New York there must have been a Zionist in the bathroom the entire time. There was a sign on the door that said "occupied."

Sister Farah, there is nothing wrong with that except it doesn't match with our religious commandment. Islam has given more rights to women than any other religion, please note that Islam was the first religion to stop the female infanticide - Islam also accepts the right of woman and admires her role in raising children, looking after the domestic matters while husband is given the job to be a "bread-winner" for the family. I am not a Jurist, but it would not be hard to understand that during the impure state of "those-seven-days" a woman sitting on the throne would be making decisions, that would take away the "Barkat" out of things. Being a woman yourself you know that Namaz/salat is pardoned and the reading of Holy Qur'an is also pardoned. On the seventh day they take the "Purity Shower" to get back in the pure state. [however they are not "disallowed" to take a bath during the 7 day period, its more of a cultural thing than religious] The Western nations are proud of their female Prime Ministers but hey, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have more of them - The bottom line however is not that they are weak, but whatever I said above.
